For our Halloween workshop, we started by reading Mog’s Box by Helen Nicoll and Jan Pieńkowski. The children enjoyed listening to the story and talking about what
happened to Mog, especially her curious and magical adventures. We discussed what the story was about and what made it special, and if we would want to eat the lunches that Meg packed for Mog!
Afterward, we turned into Halloween scientists and made a witches’ brew. We mixed baking soda, food coloring, egg whites, and vinegar in a cauldron to create a bubbling, foamy potion.
The children loved watching the reaction. Then, we made our own art cauldrons by drawing five things we could put inside—like eyes of newt, spiderwebs, and cats—and used paint, dish soap, and toilet paper rolls to make colorful bubbles for our creations. It was a fun mix of stories, science, and Halloween creativity.

Para nuestro taller de Halloween, comenzamos leyendo Mog’s Box, de Helen Nicoll y Jan Pieńkowski. Los niños disfrutaron escuchando la historia y hablando sobre lo que le sucedió a Mog, especialmente sus curiosas y mágicas aventuras.
Charlamos sobre el tema de la historia y lo que la hacía especial, y si nos gustaría comer las ccomidas que Meg le preparó a Mog.
Después, nos convertimos en científicos de Halloween e hicimos un brebaje de brujas. Mezclamos bicarbonato de sodio, colorante alimentario, claras de huevo y vinagre en un caldero para crear una poción burbujeante y espumosa.
A los niños les encantó ver la reacción. Luego, hicimos nuestros propios calderos artísticos dibujando cinco cosas que podríamos poner dentro, como ojos de tritón, telarañas y gatos, y usamos pintura, jabón y rollos de papel higiénico para hacer burbujas de colores para nuestras creaciones. Fue una divertida mezcla de historias, ciencia y creatividad de Halloween.
